Miley Cyrus, the 15-year-old actress of the Disney Channel show Hannah Montana and daughter of country singer Billy Ray Cyrus announced Wednesday she’ll extend her enormously popular concert tour with 14 more performances in January. Tickets for the new shows, some of which will feature teen singers Aly and AJ, will go on sale starting at 10 a.m. Saturday. The ‘ “Best of Both Worlds Tour” is one of the most popular concert tickets of the year, with all 55 shows selling out in minutes and scalpers getting four to five times the tickets’ value. Normally I would never pay that much money for a concert ticket but in Hannah Montana’s case, it’s worth the money. The commotion prompted a class-action lawsuit by some members of Cyrus’ fan club who couldn’t get tickets. They claimed they paid to join the club based on its promise that membership would make it easier to get tickets. I agree with the fan club because if the members have a membership, they should get some of the perks that were promised to them. The Cyrus’ tour ranks as the sixth top North American concert tour this week, behind Genesis, Bruce Springsteen, Van Halen, Dave Matthews Band and the Mexican rock band Mana, according to the trade publication Pollstar. Hannah Montana is becoming bigger than ever now that her “best of both worlds tour” has come out. Hannah Montana is popular with both children and teens because of her music and personality. I haven’t seen her in concert yet but I would like to get a chance to see her live.
